Description
Acute inflammation can be necessary and beneficial when your body is exposed to foreign substances, however, long-term inflammation can lead to chronic conditions such as heart disease, diabetes and arthritis.
This tea is based on an Ayurvedic recipe, combining a rich mix of rooibos, berry and aromatic spices that are designed to help ease inflammation throughout the body. It is a deliciously warming dessert-like brew that is sweet and spicy with subtle hints of fruit.
Besides being two of the most healing tonic herbs in the world, ginger and turmeric are wonderfully anti-inflammatory. Turmeric is an amazing spice that has many benefits for the body and mind, many of which is owed to its levels of curcumin. To get the most out of this magical ingredient, black pepper is added. Black pepper contains piperine, a natural substance that enhances the absorption of the anti-inflammatory action of turmeric within the body. Cinnamon and cardamom are not only decadent in taste but are also rich in compounds that ease inflammation. Goji berries are superfoods that improve immune function, are highly antioxidant and reduce the effects of stress on the body and mind. Apples are rich in polyphenols that not only reduce inflammation but help with blood pressure and keep blood vessels flexible.
Certified Organic Ingredients: Rooibos, Ginger, Turmeric, Apple, Goji berries, Cinnamon, Cassia, Cardamom, Black pepper.
Taste: Sweet, spicy, fruity, dessert-like.
Herbal Actions: anti-inflammatory to tissues, warming, immune supportive.
Systems Affected: muscles, nervous, immune, circulatory.
Serving Suggestion:
Infusion: Add 1-2 teaspoons per cup of freshly boiled water (100ºC) and steep for 10-15 minutes.
Decoction (recommended method): Add tea to the pot and simmer over low heat for 15 minutes. Turn off the heat. Add 1 teaspoon of butter or coconut oil and honey. Butter or coconut oil is included in this decoction method because the spices contain fat-soluble constituents that won’t be fully extracted in water alone. Let sit for 5 minutes. Strain and enjoy. The sugar in the goji berries should help the butter to emulsify into the tea. If you find the butter sitting on top of the tea, you can emulsify the tea in a blender for 15 seconds.
